For nearly a month, a scam has been making the rounds on Facebook claiming to have a “Leaked NASA video” confirming that the Mayans were right, and that the apocalypse will happen on Dec. 21, 2012.
As GFI Labs explained, the message, “2012 Doomsday Confirmed: NASA Warns Be Prepared!!” asks users first to share the link, and then redirects them to a Web page where they are asked to fill out a survey in exchange for proof of the apocalypse.
“2012 Doomsday Confirmed, NASA Warns Be Prepared,” is the latest scam that’s making the rounds on Facebook and it promises a video leaked from the space agency which allegedly proves that the end is near.
Scammers are once again trying to pique Facebook users’curiosity with claims of a video that doesn’t exist. The world is not ending in 2012, and NASA has not released a video saying it will.
This particular scam says something along the lines of “2012 DOOMSDAY CONFIRMED: NASA WARNS BE PREPARED!!” followed by a fraudulent link.
Facebook scammers are once again trying to take advantage of gullible users who want to see a sensational video. This time it’s NASA that is claiming the world will end in 2012.
NASA and other experts haven’t confirmed the doomsday predicted by the Mayan calendar. On the contrary!
