Roseville Man Dies In Fireworks Blaze, Firework lodges in man's chest; bomb squad called, 6,000 Injured by Fireworks Annually, Fireworks law Michigan safety, firework mans chest---A longtime Roseville man, William Tavernier, 32, died due to a blaze involving fireworks broke out inside the resident’s home.
Tavernier died on Monday and he was the father of three children. Tavernier had only moved into the home on Pattow, near Frazho and Interstate 94, a few weeks ago while going through a divorce.
Roseville Fire Marshal Craig Robertson said that Roseville man found unconscious in the living room of the single-story ranch during the fire reported at 2 a.m. in the 26000 block of Marquette.
Once firefighters worked their way in the burning house, they found Tavernier unresponsive and badly burned. Medics began working on him before transporting him to St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit where he was pronounced dead.
Roseville police and the fire marshal are investigating the incident. Officials said several cases of fireworks were found inside of the house. Although the cause of the fire has not officially been determined, the fire did ignite the fireworks, said Michael Holland, Roseville’s training chief.
Billy Tavernier was a lifetime Roseville resident who attended Huron Park Elementary School and Roseville Junior High School before graduating in 1998 from Roseville High School, where he was a wrestling champion. The third of four brothers, he was employed as a union glazer.
