Dating Show Contestant Reveals he Killed His Wife and Lover, Wife killer Sefer Calinak ejected from Turkish dating show, Dating shows can reveal some odd things about contestants - strange hobbies, an embarrassing taste in music - but one man has outdone them all by confessing to the murder of two women on a Turkish dating show.
Sefer Çalınak, appearing on “Ne Çıkarsa Bahtına” (The Luck of the Draw), nonchalantely mentioned that he had killed both his first wife and a lover, though government amnesties ensured that he never served either sentence fully.
Hurriyet Daily News reports that he admitted to killing his first wife, whom he married when he was 17, out of jealousy. After serving 4 years and 6 months for the crime he was released, and later married again. After this second marriage failed he had an affair with a married woman and killed her in what he claims was an act of self defence. "She was accidently killed when I swung the axe,” he said.
Despite explaining the necessity of his actions and offering a comforting "it is what it it", the clearly perturbed host asks him to leave the show - a measure which was duly applauded by the audience and other contestants.
The show's producer had been aware of one murder before shooting began, but allowed it to continue given that Çalınak had served his sentence.
