Martha Stewart Show Cancelled, martha stewart show poor ratings- The Martha Stewart Show was averaging only about 225,000 viewers according to the New York Post, which proved to be too costly to produce the live show on a daily basis.

Lisa Gersh, president of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (MSLO) hinted of this problem last month, saying, “Our expensive studio lease is expiring next year, and we will either bring television in-house or find lower cost space, which will significantly reduce our TV operating margins.”

The show will stop production in April, however they will continue to run reruns throughout the summer. "The daytime block on Hallmark Channel demonstrated year over year ratings growth and earned The Martha Stewart Show two Daytime Emmy Awards in its first season on Hallmark Channel," MSLO and Crown Media said in a statement. "That show will continue to air through the end of summer 2012."

What’s next for 70-year-old Stewart now that her show is ending? We have no doubt she will land on her feet -- and it sounds like she already has plans for the future. “We love working with The Hallmark Channel and are talking to them about daytime programming in the future as well,” a spokesman for MSLO told the Post.

Sources are saying that “Martha’s TV family” is already planning a “lavish Oprah-style send-off” for her.

In the meantime, Stewart seems to be handling the news well, writing on Twitter yesterday that she is at a "fascinating jungle/sea property owned by friend Jean Pigozzi" and has been "kayaking, hiking, exploring, horseback riding, picnicking and boating."
