Cynthia de la Vega weight gain- This year’s Miss Mexico pageant runner-up, Cynthia de la Vega, lost her crown and the opportunity to compete in November’s Miss World pageant because she was unable to lose six pounds, the beauty queen claims.“I feel healthy enough to represent my country, and I think this is an injustice,” Miss de la Vega told CNN en Espanol Wednesday.According to organizers of the Nuestra Belleza Mexico beauty contest, Cynthia’s weight had nothing to do with their decision to withdraw her title.“It was a lack of dedication and discipline,” Lupita Jones, national head of the Nuestra Belleza and Mexico’s first Miss Universe winner, explained to reporters on Wednesday.
De la Vega, 19, admits that she gained weight while pushing herself hard to prepare for the upcoming beauty pageant, but claims she was never warned of any physical requirements or “weight standards” for the competition.“Organizers of the Nuestra Belleza Mexico contest demanded that I lose a few [pounds], but they never provided a nutritionist or any other assistance to ensure the weight loss,” she told reporters. “A proper nutrition plan should be specific for each day of the week and should also be supervised to make the necessary adjustments.”
Miss World 2011, the 61st edition of the Miss World pageant is scheduled to take place at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre on November 6, 2011 in London. Nuestra Belleza organizers said that they would replace Cynthia de la Vega with Gabriela Palacio, who will go on to represent Mexico in the upcoming contest.
